Nature Nights

Roam the Garden after hours and uncover the mysteries of nature at night!

Bring a picnic dinner and spend an evening in the Garden! Children ages 4 to 10 and their families will explore different areas of the Garden and enjoy a variety of discovery-based activities. Each Nature Nights also includes a short tram ride, planting project, and s’mores around the campfire. Nature Nights is held rain or shine.

Ages
Children ages 4 to 10 accompanied by adults. Limit of three children per adult, please. An adult MUST accompany children.

Attire
Dress for the weather. Wear clothes that are comfortable for outdoor and indoor activities, and hands-on, sometimes messy, fun.

Location/parking
Park in the Learning Center entry drive. After the gatehouse, make a right at the first stop sign. Turn right again into the entry drive.

June 2 or 16

 

Sensory Stroll — Taste, touch, smell, see and listen — practice using all your senses during a food tasting and sensory activity. You and your child will also discover the sensational plants of the Sensory Garden and take home your own sensory plant.

July 7 or 21

 

Harvest Hike — Experience the Regenstein Fruit & Vegetable Garden at the height of its season. You and your child will explore the garden to find unique plants used for food, discuss composting plant material, and even plant and harvest some veggies to take home.

Aug. 4 or 18

 

Sculpture Scavenger Hunt — Plants and nature often inspire artists. Explore the collection of sculptures hidden throughout the Garden, visit the Places for the Spirit exhibition, create your own sculpture using natural materials, and pot up a sculptural plant to take home.

NEW! Fantastic Forests —Giant oaks, maple, and elm trees all call the woods their home. Learn to identify these and other trees and shrubs, make a recycled wood project, and learn why forests are so important to our daily lives.  You will even plant a tree to take home.
